(EU) 1169/2011

The 13th of  December 2014, enters the EU Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 in full force. Then the so-called regulation of food enters into force in Europe. The regulation applies to the information printed on the packageas well as also information that must be available to consumers through Distance shopping(E-commerce). Commodity Producers take care themselves that the regulation is followed on their product packaging, but the same regulatory requirements are also on the products available through a variety of Omni channels and these are mostly outside the commodity producer’s control.

This is where OPV and 1WorldSync comes into the picture. We offer together GS1® Certified product data management via the global GDSN® as well as media management system OPV System®, for storage and distribution of images and product according to, among other things (EU) 1169/2011.

What do I, as OPV® Online customer, need to do?

OPV Online has of course support for (EU) 1169/2011. All fields that are mandatory regarding distance trade are available in OPV Online. We have of course also upgraded our OPV Web service so that all external systems, such as e-commerce, automatically can comply with (EU) 1169/2011 with the distribution of images, and product information through our systems.

As a commodity producer affiliated to OPVOnline, there are two approaches to provide OPV with the trade item information, depending on whether you are connected to GDSN® or not. OPV has with its partnership with 1Worldsync access to the global GDSN®. This means that we are a recipient to GDSN® just like a Swedish Food Retailer. For a commodity producer connected to GDSN®, not to enter the data once again to OPV Online, we can import data from your chosen Home Data Pool, regardless of the Data Pool you have.
opv_gdsYou are not connected to GDSN®, no problem. You can enter all the required Item Data directly in OPV Online’s GU-interface. The system has  validation of all the mandatory fields to the (EU) 1169/2011.
